Miss G: An Evening at Bisha Hotel & Kost Restaurant

As a lover of a rooftop patio vibe and also frequenting the few ones present in the city, once a I heard that a new rooftop spot had opened in town, I was immediately eager to check it out.

Located just down the street from the Rogers Centre, Bisha hotel recently opened at the end of the summer. It's arrival has added to the number of luxury hotels located in the downtown Toronto core. In addition to its luxury profile, their rooftop patio with its close-up view of the CN tower and waterfront has been a major feature drawing people to visit it.

Here is a look at my evening checking out Bisha hotel and its Rootfop restauarant Kost...

Food: Street Shak Caribbean Kitchen Restaurant

As the presence of black owned restaurants continues to grow throughout Toronto, the selections has particularly grown in the downtown core. This is perfect for me as downtown Toronto is my hood, so always looking for great new food places to check out.

Open for a bit over a year, Street Shak Caribbean Kitchen located at 646 Queen St. W. in the bustling downtown Queen West area and offers a modern environment that celebrates rich Caribbean heritage and cuisine. I had been seeing and hearing a lot about Street Shak on social media, so I was definitely hoping to try it out at some point. I was finally able to make time to visit the restaurant and with my friend Nikki and I must say it was a great experience...

Beauty: Lala Skin Essentials Organic Skin Care Product Review

Skincare has not always been a major focus of mine or an important part of my daily regiment, however in the past year I have become more interested in paying better attention to my skin and building a good skincare routine.

I recently had the opportunity to connect with local Toronto based organic skincare brand Lala Skin Essential and try out two of their shea body butters. As Ihave been working on improving my skin, I have tried to look more towards natural organic products. Therefore, with Lala Skin Essentials only uses organic ingredients, this definitely fell in line with what have been looking for so was excited to try it out...

Beauty: Foundations for Oily/Deep Skin Review

Hi Everyone! Lakshmee here with with a review of some of the foundations I use that work best for oily/deep skin.

As a girl who is completely obsessed with makeup, I’m always trying new things and on a hunt for new amazing products. This week I went through all the foundations I own and decided to only keep the ones I use frequently. I’ve noticed that when I don’t reach for a specific foundation, it’s because there’s something about it that doesn’t work for me. Whether it has too red of an undertone or it's way too moisturizing for my skin, I realized that I had accumulated quite a collection of foundations. After ditching a few products, I was left with 3 foundations that I use for different occasions and happen to really like...

Food: FUSE Restaurant Entertainment Emporium

A few weeks ago, some friends and I were looking for a new restaurant to check out for dinner and as were were discussing possible options FUSE Restaurant came up. I had heard about FUSE Restaurant before and throughout the summer would hear about a number of events that were happening there. However, I had yet to check out the place, therefore we all agreed to try Fuse Restaurant for dinner.

FUSE Restaurant Entertainment Emporium is a newer establishment as it opened earlier this year and is located in downtown Toronto's Corktown district at 366 Queen St. E. With my main knowledge of this place being in relation to events, I was very interested to check out their menu and try some of the various dished offerred...

Travel Diaries: My Stay in the Omni Chicago Hotel

In this next installment of my Chicago travel diary, I'll be sharing my experience staying in our fabulous accommodations at the luxurious Omni Chicago Hotel in Downtown Chicago.

Now, you all know I love the spaciousness of a hotel suite, so when looking for a hotel to stay in during our quick trip to Chicago, the all-suites and luxury of the Omni Chicago Hotel was perfect! In addition, we wanted to be in a central part of downtown, therefore its location in the high-end Magnificent Mile area right on the Michigan Avenue strip definitely fulfilled this requirement. This allowed us to be in close proximity to attractions, restaurants and shopping...

Travel Diary: The Sights & Sounds of the Windy City, Chicago - Part. 1

Welcome to the Windy City, Chicago!

So a a couple months ago, I had the great opportunity to visit to beautiful city of Chicago. I brought along my friend and fellow blogger Nancy with me to partake in this Chicago adventure. I had been once before when I was very young, so of course I didn't remember anything. Therefore, I was very excited to visit the city as an adult, as I would be able to properly explore and experience what Chicago had to offer....

Interior Design: Creating a Work Space with Limited Space & Budget

Yaaayyyy!! I finally have a desktop work space at home!

I while ago, I decided that I wanted to get a desktop computer and set up a desk workspace area at home. I find that I work more efficiently sitting at a desktop computer, whereas a lot of times I get to comfortable and distracted lounging around while using my laptop. However, with being in a downtown condo and also having so much stuff, space is extremely limited. There is definitely no space in my living room, therefore I had to figure out how to make space for it in my room.

Now when I say I have a lot of stuff, I mean I have a LOT of stuff lol! My room is jam packed! Despite this, I am the Queen of organizing so I knew I could somehow make it work and create a nice new work space...

Restaurant Review: Provo Food Bar

A few weeks ago I was invited by a friend to attend a media tasting event for the recently opened Provo Food Bar. Located downtown at 30 Dundas St. W., Provo is gourmet casual dining restaurant serving a wide variety of brunch and dinner items as well as a selection of signature drinks.

This event was attended by many fellow food bloggers, all eager to try out the items on the tasting menu. The restaurant has a clean, simple design consisting of a large bar and ample seating. After we were given time to check out the spread of menu items laid out on display, the tasting began. During the tasting, we were offered a great selection of food and cocktails.

Lookbook: Black & White Vibes

Back when was the weather was a little nicer, I did an outdoor shoot with the help of my fellow blogger friend Miss Abena. Preferring something different from my regular downtown 'hood' scenery, I trekked all the way up to Abena's 'hood' in North York lol.

Now, y'all know I lover colour, however, for this shoot I was in the mood for something more monotone. I was in a Black in White vibe so put together this simple look. When I dress down, I like to rock  a more urban streetwear casual look. Combat boots are definitely my go to causal shoe during the cooler seasons, which adds a bit of edge to any look. Furthermore, I wanted to shoot a look that would also showcase my new found love for wide brim hats and my new bag that I absolutely love!

Was a fun time and we found some great spots to shoot.

Food: Royal Caribbean Cafe

Got together recently with some of my friends to have dinner and catch up. When trying to decide on a restaurant, we wanted to stay away from the usual downtown spots and instead dine somewhere uptown. One of my friend suggested the Royal Caribbean restaurant on St, Claire West. I had been to this restaurant once before and really enjoyed my mean. Ever since, I had been meaning to come back to check out more of their items on the menu, so this dinner presented the perfect opportunity for me to do just that...

Food: Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant

I have been craving Ethiopian food for the longest time as it had been a while since a last ate some, so I finally came around to feeding this craving by visiting the Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant in downtown Toronto. This is one of my favourite Ethiopian restaurants in the city and luckily for me its located not too far from my house...

Interior Design: Adding African Art to Your Home Decor

As a lover of African art, I always need to include elements of African art to my home decor. I have a huge collection of African carved art, paintings, instruments and much more that I have accumulated over time. I always make sure to buy a new piece each time I am in the Continent.

Due to this huge collection and my love for African Art,  my previous apartment was fully decked out with all my African pieces in every room. Every wall had a painting, every table had a carving and every shelf had some art as well as instruments. I was living in my own little Afrocentric sanctuary; no one could enter my place and not know I was African LOL...
