Miss G: An Evening at Bisha Hotel & Kost Restaurant

As a lover of a rooftop patio vibe and also frequenting the few ones present in the city, once a I heard that a new rooftop spot had opened in town, I was immediately eager to check it out.

Located just down the street from the Rogers Centre, Bisha hotel recently opened at the end of the summer. It's arrival has added to the number of luxury hotels located in the downtown Toronto core. In addition to its luxury profile, their rooftop patio with its close-up view of the CN tower and waterfront has been a major feature drawing people to visit it.

Here is a look at my evening checking out Bisha hotel and its Rootfop restauarant Kost...

Events: EDEN African Cultural & Culinary Experience Recap

Throughout the summer, the city was buzzing with so many Afrocentric events. It felt like every weekend there was another African fashion, music or food event. I loved every bit of this and definitely made sure to attend as many as I could.

One of these events was the Events by Reign African Cultural & Culinary Experience, which occurred on July 30th on te rooftop Patio of upscale downtown lounge Maison Mercer. The event consisted of exploring African cuisine through a 5 course cocktail style tasting menu. In addition, there were musical performances and attendees were to rock their stylish African fashions.

The was such a great event. I loved the rooftop vibe and the variety of African foods and of course all the fabulous African fashions! Here is a look at my time at the event...

Food: Street Shak Caribbean Kitchen Restaurant

As the presence of black owned restaurants continues to grow throughout Toronto, the selections has particularly grown in the downtown core. This is perfect for me as downtown Toronto is my hood, so always looking for great new food places to check out.

Open for a bit over a year, Street Shak Caribbean Kitchen located at 646 Queen St. W. in the bustling downtown Queen West area and offers a modern environment that celebrates rich Caribbean heritage and cuisine. Food: FUSE Restaurant Entertainment Emporium

A few weeks ago, some friends and I were looking for a new restaurant to check out for dinner and as were were discussing possible options FUSE Restaurant came up. I had heard about FUSE Restaurant before and throughout the summer would hear about a number of events that were happening there. However, I had yet to check out the place, therefore we all agreed to try Fuse Restaurant for dinner.

FUSE Restaurant Entertainment Emporium is a newer establishment as it opened earlier this year and is located in downtown Toronto's Corktown district at 366 Queen St. E. With my main knowledge of this place being in relation to events, I was very interested to check out their menu and try some of the various dished offerred...

A few weeks ago, I attended the Clutch Life 85 x Harlem Underground Sunday Brunch Pop-Up Shop with a few friends. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than to eat and shop!

Upon arrival to the event, we were welcomed by some cool hip hop tunes which set a nice, chilled ambiance. To start things off, we all went to the pop-up shop area to check out all the Clutch Life 85 custom graphic t-shirts and apparel available for purchase. Events: BlackFoodie & Supafrik Presents 'Jollof Wars'

This never ending debate is about to be put to the challenge, and you can be the judge!

Jollof rice for many West African countries a staple dish loved my a majority of the population. This love for Jollof by many has led to the long standing debate over which country is the originator of Jollof as well as which country makes the best Jollof. Discussions on the topic almost always lead to a very heated debate pinning one country against another as each debater passionately defends their countries' Jollof rice as the best. This can ultimately be best described as a 'Jollof War.'

Well, we might now be able to finally put this debate to rest!...

Restaurant Review: Provo Food Bar

A few weeks ago I was invited by a friend to attend a media tasting event for the recently opened Provo Food Bar. Located downtown at 30 Dundas St. W., Provo is gourmet casual dining restaurant serving a wide variety of brunch and dinner items as well as a selection of signature drinks.

This event was attended by many fellow food bloggers, all eager to try out the items on the tasting menu. The restaurant has a clean, simple design consisting of a large bar and ample seating. After we were given time to check out the spread of menu items laid out on display, the tasting began. During the tasting, we were offered a great selection of food and cocktails.

Check it out...

Food: Royal Caribbean Cafe

Got together recently with some of my friends to have dinner and catch up. When trying to decide on a restaurant, we wanted to stay away from the usual downtown spots and instead dine somewhere uptown. One of my friend suggested the Royal Caribbean restaurant on St, Claire West. I had been to this restaurant once before and really enjoyed my mean. Ever since, I had been meaning to come back to check out more of their items on the menu, so this dinner presented the perfect opportunity for me to do just that...

Food Review: The Dirty Bird Chicken + Waffles

I love me some Dirty Bird!

When I tell you this is the best Chicken & Waffles I've ever had...I mean this is the BEST Chicken & Waffles I've ever had!

Now, I've tried chicken and waffles at a few places within the city and have also eaten it during my time down south in Atlanta, however The Dirty Bird is by far the best. Just writing about this makes me want to go there now and enjoy all their deliciousness LOL.

Dirty Bird is a fairly new spot that opened just a few months ago in the ever hip and vibrant Kensington Market by a young entrepreneur. I had been hearing about this place a lot recently and have been planning to check it out for a while. So, I decided to call up my bro and told him to come along with me to check out The Dirty Bird. Of course he was down to go (because it involved food lol), so off we went....

Restaurant Review: Jazz Bristro

So I love to explore the city and check out new spots from time to time, more frequently so during the spring and summer months. Now the weather is getting warmer, the time has finally come for my various explorations!

So my friend from Guyana was recently in town, I got a few of the girls together and arranged a dinner outing to catch up with our visiting friend. I didn't really want to just go to one of our regular dinner spots, so starting googling away in search of somewhere new to try. I'm really into places with live music, it adds a more fun an interactive vibe to a dinner, so in my search I came across the Jazz Bistro which is situated at 251 Victoria St. just behind Dundas Square in Toronto. The atmosphere looked nice, the menu looked good and there was going to be a all female Cuban band performing that night (and I love me some Latin music) so I decided we'd go there and check it out.
