MISS G: I Successfully Held My First International Event!

This past Sunday I successfully held my first international Afrofusion Spot event, and where else of a better place to start than my home country Ghana!

Planning any event anywhere is tough, but where there is a will there is way! I'm so glad I took the chance and did it! The response has been so positive.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out and also a big thanks to Oasis Lounge for having us in their space. Shoutout also to everyone that showed support by sharing the flyer. We're not done though! This will be the first of many more international Afrofusion events, so stay tuned! 

2020 issa bout' to be on a whole other level! 🔥

MISS G: Hello From Ghana...Year of Return Enjoyment Has Started!

Hello From Ghana! Hot girl summer may be over, but hot girl harmattan has just started!

It is now the much anticipated climax to the Year of Return in Ghana, with the biggest events and largest influx of visitors in December. I have just been in town a few days and the city is already packed! So many events will be occurring in the next couples of weeks I can barely keep up, but I am so ready!

BEAUTY: DJ Cuppy Named Maybelline 'IT Girl' For Nigeria & Ghana

Congrats to DJ Cuppy for being named the 'It Girl' brand ambassador for beauty brand Maybelline for Nigeria & Ghana. It's great to see an international beauty brand diversifying its media representation with more women of colour and being more inclusive in their global reach.

Some may seeing it as them jumping on the bandwagon of other brands that have been successful in their focus on women of colour. However I believe it is still a positive step forward and a testament to brands realizing the buying power of women of color. I welcome this as it provides more opportunities for women of colour to establish a larger stake in the billion dollar beauty industry.

FEELIN' IT OR NAH?: Waje at the 'She Is' Movie Premiere

A few days ago was the premiere of the film 'She is' which is co-produced by Nigerian musicians Waje and Omawumi. This was a star studded event at the Filmhouse Cinema in Lagos, with celebrity attendees gracing the red carpet in looks following in line with the premiere's fairytale dress code theme.

One look that stood out to me was Waje's, in particular her accessorizing her gown with a jeweled white fanny pack and a white beret. Although quite unique parings, I'm a bit on the fence with this one...

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I stayed all weekend and did absolutely nothing, and it felt great! LOL! However, now its time to get back into the weekly grind, so of course I got some Afrobeat grooves for you to enjoy. This week I'm bringing to y'all the latest hit track by Nigerian artist Burna Boy in collaboration with Zlatan call 'Killin Dem.' The title of the song is a perfect reflection of how much Burna boy has been killin' us with the hits for the past year and there are no signs of him slowing down. This song is an definitely a banger!

Ghanaian fashion brand AAKS, founded by Akosua Afriyie-Kumi, recently released their latest SS19collection of beautifully weaved handbags, Season 5. I have been a fan of this brand for a while, so was excited to check out their latest collection, and it does not disappoint. AAKS weaved handbags are hand crafted in Ghana and incorporate a beautiful mixture of colours to achieve a sophisticated chic style.

Diggy Simmons & Michael Jai White recently visited Ghana during the Christmas/New Years holidays among a group of black Hollywood celebrities visiting as part of the Full Circle Festival hosted by Boris Kodjoe and Bozoma Saint John. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the celebs while I was in town. It was lovely to see how they all immersed themselves into learning about Ghanaian culture and connecting to their roots...

It's the start of another work week, and I'm definitely not ready. But with the help of some cool Afrobeat vibes, I'll get there lol. This week I'm sharing with y'all the latest track by Wizkid 'Fever'. This song became viral and was all over Social Media last week and it definitely was not because of the actual song. It was all about the video. Talk about hot and steamy chemistry! What am I talking about you ask? Well, the video features fellow Nigerian artist Tiwa Savage, however not in a musical role but rather play the leading lady and Wizkids love interest. This spark further speculation that someting is going on between the two romantically in real life, which has been a long standing rumor.

Fashion: TMP Fashion Trench Coat Styled for Fall

Stylish Fall coat with a twist!

During the early Fall months when its getting colder but still a bit warm in the day, my go-to jacket is always a trench coat. This still allows me to stay warm in the cooler weather, while still being stylish.

Trenches are typically worn in a neutral colour, such as beige, black & navy blue. Although, one tends to gravitate towards coat in one solid colour, why not add some spice to it by getting one in a bold bright color or print! I have been wanted an African Print trench coat for a longest time, so was excited with I received this beautiful piece by the Lagos based Nigrian brand TMP Fashion.
