Congrats to DJ Cuppy for being named the 'It Girl' brand ambassador for beauty brand Maybelline for Nigeria & Ghana. It's great to see an international beauty brand diversifying its media representation with more women of colour and being more inclusive in their global reach.
Some may seeing it as them jumping on the bandwagon of other brands that have been successful in their focus on women of colour. However I believe it is still a positive step forward and a testament to brands realizing the buying power of women of color. I welcome this as it provides more opportunities for women of colour to establish a larger stake in the billion dollar beauty industry.
Congrats again and hope to see more international opportunities like this for African public figures.
