MISS G: I Successfully Held My First International Event!

This past Sunday I successfully held my first international Afrofusion Spot event, and where else of a better place to start than my home country Ghana!

Planning any event anywhere is tough, but where there is a will there is way! I'm so glad I took the chance and did it! The response has been so positive.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out and also a big thanks to Oasis Lounge for having us in their space. Shoutout also to everyone that showed support by sharing the flyer. We're not done though! This will be the first of many more international Afrofusion events, so stay tuned!

Fashion: Tiffany Haddish Reppin' Eritrea on the Emmy's Red Carpet

The 2018 Emmys occured last week and full of glitz and glam from all the celebrities in attendance. Of course, my focus was checking out the looks on the red carpet. One particular look that definitely stood out in the crowd was this beautiful gown worn by my girl Tiffany Haddish! She came to SLAYYYY!

Upon closer look at the dress, it was clear that she was paying homage again to late fathers native Eritrea as the dress includes all the colours in the Eritrean flag. I absolutely love how she is not afraid to represent and showcase her culture on the big Hollywood stage. I think it's about time that that she finally visits her fatherland Eritrea. I'm down to come along with you Tiffany! :)

Events: African Fashion Week Toronto 2018

The 2018 African Fashion Week Toronto is finally here!!! Are y'all ready?

This is the most anticipated African Fashion event in the city each year. I always look forward to it and have been attending for the last 4 years. It is so amazing to see how much they have grown each year as they continuously set the bar higher with each years production of the event, as well as the caliber of designers that showcase on the runway. This year will definitely be no different and a guaranteed great time.

Events: ZHURI Mag 'A Seat at the Table' Event Recap

I couple months ago I had the pleasure of being invited to attend the ZHURI Magazine 'A Seat at the Table' Fashion Networking Brunch Event. It was a lovely afternoon surrounded by so many African creatives, designers and influencers. During the event, attendees were treated to a brunch buffet while listening to a panel discussion of leading creatives and influencers within the Toronto African fashion industry. Hearing each person on the panel speak about their work and their journey developing it was quite inspiring.

Furthermore, the event also served the purpose of officially introducing Zhuri Magazine to the public. Anita Ehui, founder of ZHURI Magazine, shared with us her vision and inspiration for the magazine and well as the content readers should expect. In addition, the Yomi Adefala of Yomi Styling was officially announced as the Editor-in-chief.

Events: Flashback to Africa All Star Music Fest 2017

The 2018 Africa All Star Music fest is right around the corner! As we get ready for their 2nd edition, lets take a look back at last years first edition in 2017.

2017 saw the official launch and 1st edition of the Africa All Star Music fest presented by Kpopsy Entertainment. With the announcement of this event , there was a lot of excitement in the city as an event like this had never been put on before. I for one was super excited, being the huge Afrobeats music lover as I am. Furthermore, once I saw the line-up of artists I was even more excited and some of my favourite artists would be part of it.

Feature: New ZHURI Magazine Introducing African Luxury to the Global Market

ZHURI Magazine is a new African Luxury Fashion Magazine in town, and we are here for it!

I recently got the chance to connect with the founder of ZHURI Magazine, Anita Ehui, and learned a bit about her vision behind developing the magazine and what kind of content we should expect within the magazine. I'm glad to see more platforms being developed to contribute to the increased global reach and expansion of African fashion intentionally. There are many high-end luxury African fashion brands that produce high quality pieces that are on par with or even surpass that of many mainstream international luxury brands. More people need to know about these brands. Therefore, I am also excited to see that ZHURI Magazine with focus on luxury African fashion brands, designers and creators, as it is an area of African fashion that definitely needs more exposure.

Events: 2018 Face of African Fashion Week Toronto Recap

As we get closer  to the 2018 Edition of African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT), the more my level of excitement grows! I have been lucky enough to have attend this event for the last 3 years, and am so proud to have witnessed the tremendous growth of this fashions week as well as the African fashion industry in Toronto as a whole. It continues to get bigger and bigger, thus I am super existed to see what the 2018 edition has in store!

To kick things off, AFWT has started with their search for the 2018 Face of African Fashion week. Last year, model Zubeida won this coveted title for 2017 and has been rockin' the Toronto fashion scene all year. If you missed how it all when down last year, check out our 2017 Face of AFWT coverage here. It was now time to award a new 2018 Face of AFWT and there was a whole new crop of models ready to battle it out to win the title...

Events: Clore Beauty Supply Store Launch Party

A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being invited to attend the VIP soft launch party for Clore Beauty Supply's new Eglington Town Centre location. For this event, select bloggers and influencers were invited to preview the new store and learn more about their grand opening event.

Clore is one of the hair stores I have shopped at many times for my various hair care needs. Whether its weave, wigs, natural hair care products or hair styling tools, I have gotten it from the beauty supply store. Therefore, I was excited to preview the new Clore store location opening at the Ellington Town Centre.
