The 2020 edition of the Grammy Awards went down last night and it was a star studded event. One category in particular that most Africans were looking forward to was the Award for Best World Music Album. This was mainly due to the nomination of Nigerian artist and the African Giant himself, Burna Boy. Having an mainstream Afrobeats artist nominated for a Grammy award is a major feat that brings about much excitement in the Afrobeats community. Also nominated was the legendary Benin artist Angélique Kidjo. She is not stranger to the Grammy's, as she has already 3 Grammy awards under her belt. This made her a formidable opponent against Burna Boy in the category.

"I make money online, I make money in time!" This my jam bruv!! lol.
While away over the summer, I discovered this song and was immediately hooked! The song is 'Options' by British hip hop group NSG featuring Tion Wayne. I mean was so viral, it was everywhere. Anytime it would come on I would wild out in excitement, that's how serious it was.
Then my question would be, who the hell sings this song? After asking a few people, finally came to learn it was by an emerging young British Hip Hop group NGS, who also had a couple other popular songs over the summer. With my love for their 'Options' track, I am definitely now a fan.
As we get ready for the weekend y'all know I gotta bring you some Afrobeats music vibes. I have always been a big fan of Kizz Daniel, so once he dropped his latest track 'Madu' I was hooked right away. There is always a chill vibe to his music that I love. Was also feelin' the smooth dance moves at the end of the video.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I sure did and this jam right here made it even better. I kid you not, I have been grooving to this song all weekend non-stop. It's just top good. Released last week, 'Anadwo Yede' is a dope collaboration featuring to Ghanaian artists Kidi, Kuami Eugene and Kurl Songs and is produced by Mix Master Garzy. The vibe of this song is everything, you can't help it but want to dance. ISSA banger!
I have been meaning to share this ever since I came back from my vacation in Ghana!
As a big time African music lover, or shall I say Afrobeats head (if this is even a thing lol), every year when I go to Ghana I make sure to pay close attention to what songs are poppin'. Although I always try to keep up with the latest and hottest Afrobeats songs from afar in Toronto, there are some limitations to what you can be exposed to online. I find there to be a major difference in ones ability to sense what songs are hot when they are actually in Ghana. You experiences first hand what songs are played the most at parties and on the local radio, what songs artists perform the most at shows as well as feel the crowds reaction each time a song is played. These are things simply listening to songs on YouTube cannot give you.
Furthermore, whenever I get back from vacation in Ghana I have some
friends that always ask me to share a playlist of the current songs that
were big in GH. Therefore, I thought why not share this on the blog as
well!...
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I stayed all weekend and did absolutely nothing, and it felt great! LOL! However, now its time to get back into the weekly grind, so of course I got some Afrobeat grooves for you to enjoy. This week I'm bringing to y'all the latest hit track by Nigerian artist Burna Boy in collaboration with Zlatan call 'Killin Dem.' The title of the song is a perfect reflection of how much Burna boy has been killin' us with the hits for the past year and there are no signs of him slowing down. This song is an definitely a banger!
To start off the weekend, I have a fun song for y'all yo jam to. During my vacation in Ghana, there was so much great music. One particular song that stood out was the song 'Jama' by DJ Mic Smith Ft. Patoranking & Shaker, due to the use of the traditional Ghanaian Jama rhythm as well as the comedic lyrics of the song lol.Whenever I would hear it, I couldn't help buy laugh and dance at the same time. The music video also does not disappoint as it is quite entertaining and filled with good humour.
Another great Ghanaian-Nigerians musical collaboration!
I am so ready for the weekend, are you? I have a few events that I'll be attending this weekend so definitely looking forward to that. Therefore, of course, I need some Afrobeats vibes to start off my weekend right. This week I'm bringing to y'all the latest track for Nigerian artist Burna Boy 'Gbona.' This song ISSA vibe! The music video also has really dope visuals. Burna Boy and his music is a whole mood. He is growing to be one of my fave Afrobeats artists!
Cheers to the weekend, I sure was looking forward to it. Y'all already know how I start my weekend; gotta groove to some Afrobeats! This week I feel for some Bongo Flava. This may because Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz is currently in town and will be holding a concert tonight. I have been grooving to the hit track 'Jibebe' a lot lately by Wcb which features Diamond along with Mbossa and Lavalava. It has a really nice vibe to it.
Last night was the 2018 MTV European Music Award and Nigerian songstress took home the award for Best African Act. This makes her the first female African artist to do so. Another great accomplishment for an African artist on the international stage and well deserved!
It's the start of another work week, and I'm definitely not ready. But with the help of some cool Afrobeat vibes, I'll get there lol. This week I'm sharing with y'all the latest track by Wizkid 'Fever'. This song became viral and was all over Social Media last week and it definitely was not because of the actual song. It was all about the video. Talk about hot and steamy chemistry! What am I talking about you ask? Well, the video features fellow Nigerian artist Tiwa Savage, however not in a musical role but rather play the leading lady and Wizkids love interest. This spark further speculation that someting is going on between the two romantically in real life, which has been a long standing rumor.
Abeg, come and see for yourself and let me know what you think.
Cheers to the weekend! Now I can get to some much needed relaxation. Of course, I'll be enjoy some Afrobeats vibes while I enjoy my relaxing weekend. For the last week I have been listening to Ghanaian artist Stonebwoy's current album 'Epistles of Mama' non-stop! It is just so good! I can't believe I got onto it so late. So, to start of the weekend right, I'm sharing with y'all one of my fave tracks from the album 'Mane Me' which also features artists Mugeez & Praiz.
Happy Monday!! Another week, another grind.
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Why does it feel like it went so fast!
This week, I'm you a brand new track that dropped a few days ago by Ghanaian musical group R2bees 'Boys Kasa' featuring a large ensemble of Ghana's current rising young talent. The beat this track is everything! R2Bees back again with a dope track.
The work week is now over, so its time to enjoy the weekend! I'm still trying to get over all the fun I had last weekend at the Fally Ipupa concert last weekend. It was such a good show. He definitely know how to work the stage and entertain the crowd. Will be sharing more on my time and coverage of the concert soon, so stay tuned to the blog.
In keeping with my Fally Ipupa high, it makes share to share his latest hit song 'Ecole' with y'all. I've been jamming to it all week! I just love how Congolese men dance :)
It's the start of a the work week so of course, I gotta give you some dope Afrobeat vibes to help you jump start things. This week I'm bringing you a dope collabo with Ghanaian artists Yaa Pono and Stonebwoy in the track 'Obiaa Wo Ne Master'. This song has been out for a while, however I have found myself jamming to it a lot lately so wanted to share.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. We are officially in Fall! So, that means it time to bring out the jackets. As it begins to get colder, Imma need my Afrobeats vibes more than ever to groove to and keep warm lol. This week I'm bringing you a song I have been vibing to a lot lately 'Lova Lova' by Tiwa Savage featuring Duncan Mighty. Love it!

How can a short week feel feel so long! BRUH! This week has been such a busy one. First trying to recover from my long weekend trip to Houston and then coming back to work during our busiest time of the year. I need a break and a nice Afrobeat song to help me relax throughout the weekend. The latest track from Nigerian artist Duncan Mighty featuring Wizkid 'Fake Love' is hitting the right spot right now.
After some time outside the spotlight, Duncan Mighty is back again with a hit track with the help of Wizkid. His most popular hit 'Obianuju' is one or my all time fave Afrobeats songs, so it nice to to see Duncan back again with another a smash hit.
