Fashion: Top 12 Red Carpet Looks From the 2018 Glitz Style Awards

The 4th annual Glitz Style Awards went down this past Saturday, September 1st at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Ghana. This event celebrated the work and achievements of  those within the Ghanaian fashion industry. As is the case every year, the attendees came out fully glammed up for the event decked out in their best outfits. All eyes of course were on the looks worn by the celebrities on the red carpet.

Fashion: Summer Time Fine in Makeda Couture

It is now time to bring out all my cute, colourful summer outfits and of course my African fashions. One of my favourite African fashion designers is the Georgetown, Guyana based brand Makeda Couture. Makeda is the place to find African inspired clothing, fabric, design concepts and culture. They have such a diverse selection of high quality and stylish African fashions that cater to both male and female clientele. They also offer a selections of beautiful African inspired accessories to compliment you outfit.

I have a few pieces by Makeda and this green striped dress is my absolute fave! I particularly love the unique striped detail over the African print. So of course, to start off my style looks for the summer I had to feature this beautiful dress.

While out and about in downtown Toronto, spotted Miss Abena is this fabulous African print patch jacket. She explained that this piece is from her upcoming African fashion line, so y'all should look out for it! I might need to get a jacket for myself once it launches.

Lookbook: African Fashion Week Toronto 2016, Opening Soiree Lookbook

 

For my first look during AFWT 2016, I decided to keep it simple. I had recently picked up a fabulous black and white headwrap by Kwesiya Clothing and was waiting for the perfect time to rock it. With the commencement of  AFWT's weekend of events, the opening soiree for seemed like the perfect place to showcase my beautiful crown.

In putting this look together, I wanted the main focus to be on my headwrap so it could shine, therefore I opted to pair it with very simple black dress as well as simple accessories....

Since Kyemah McEntyre broke the internet last year with her Afrocentric Dashiki prom dress going viral, it comes as no surprise that this years prom season has been overflowing with Afrocentic looks.

All over social media, prom goers are sharing their custom made African print prom outfits. Within this trend, we see a lot of styles made out of the currently very popular dashiki print as well as a lot of kente print styles.

Spotted: Genevieve Nnaji in Inconic Invanity

Absolutely fabulous!!

Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji spotted recently rocking a stunning Iconic Invanity embellished dress to the premiere of her new movie 'Road to Yesterday'. Top it off, she styled it perfectly with a pair of metallic pink sandals, aqua Chanel purse and elegant drop earrings.

Day 3: 2015 African Fashion Week Toronto - Day 3 Style Profile

With Day 3 of AFWT being the main day of the event as there would be a full day of runway shows, I wanted to have a more dressed up look. So, I went back to my love affair with Kente and rocked a Kente flared bottom dress from my AfroGlam Designs fashion line. The weather was also beautiful and bright, so I also wanted to go for a more colourful look.

Events: 2015 African Fashion Week Toronto - Day 2 Designer Showcase

Day 2 of AFWT also saw the presentation of local emerging designers ZNA.K Designs and Pereira. Both showcased stunning collections during their runway shows, I definitely need to get a few pieces! After the show, I was excited to meet each of these designers and of course expressed my love for their collections.

Events: 2015 African Fashion Week Toronto - Day 2 Student Designer Competition

To kick off the Day 2 of the 2015 AFWT, the first runway presentation was a student designer competition. Many talented African student designers showcased their designs to a panel of judges. It is so great that AFWT included student designers within their event and are supporting young designers. This provided a nice platform for fashion students to showcase their collections to the public and also provided them with the experience of conducting a runway show. In the end, the designer Kyle Gervacy emerged as the winner. He presented a very creative and intriguing collection, thus well deserved win.At the end of all the runway shows, I was also able to meet a few of the designers as well as some of the fabulous models.

Events: 2015 African Fashion Week Toronto - Day 2 Style Profile & Experience

Day 2 of the 2015 African Fashion Week Toronto marked the start of a series of runway shows by the various African designers participating in fashion week from all over the African continent, North America and Europe. It was a great night filled with beautiful African fashions from student designers as well as emerging local African designers. Because there was just too much fabulousity during the show, I'll be sharing my Day 2 look and experience in this post and have my next post cover the designer collections that went down the runway...

Events: African Fashion Week Toronto - Day 1

The 2015 edition of African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT) has officially begun! I'm excited to be attending the next 4 days of events and bringing you all full coverage of the runway shows, people I meet and my experiences. Also, throughout the events, I will be rocking different Afrocentric fashions using pieces from my AfroGlam Designs fashion line and share my style profile on each of my outfits.

Day 1 of AFWT kicked off last night with a Cocktail Party at the Drake Hotel. The night was hosted by Angelina Williams of 'Tastemylife' and featured the live band 'Juice Money Collective' as well as DJ Nana on the 1's & 2's...

Bonjour! Meet Miss Nene and welcome to her fabulous Montreal apartment.

I recently travelled to Montreal to visits my favourite Guinean and the coolest chic around, my good friend Nene. Upon my arrival to her apartment, I instantly fell in love with it! The first thing the drew my attention was her beautiful orange accent wall...of course! The next thing that caught my eye and has become my favourite piece in her place is her white fan-back wicker chair, which she also painted herself. I wanted to take it LOL, I need one in my life! Overall, I admired how nicely she had decorated and also her use of colourful and Afrocentric pieces.

Seeing how creatively she designed her space, I thought it would be great to share her fabulous interior design esthetic with you all....
