As part of African Fashion week Toronto, the African Fashion Industry Awards is held on the last day to close off the week of events. These awards are a great platform to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments and growth of the African fashion industry locally and internationally.

I'm pleased to let you all know that we have been nominated this year! The AfroFusion Spot has been nominated in the category of 'Fashion Blogger of the Year'. I'm very honoured and excited to receive this nomination and look forwarded to attending the event this year.

Events: African Fashion Week Toronto 2015 Day 3 Throwback Recap

As we draw closer to the 2016 edition of African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT) I cannot help but think back to the great time a had at last years event as well as all the fabulous African fashion collections on the runway. Therefore, lets have a look back at at time on Day 3 of AFWT 2015.

Day 3 was jam packed as it was the day for the main designer showcase, thus, it was a full day of runway shows. Throughout the day we saw collections from both local and international African fashion designers. There was a great mixture of looks that went down the runway, ranging from traditional, chic sophistication and Afrocentric edgy looks.

This pic is currently trending on social media after Nigerian musician Tiwa Savage posted it on her Instagram page.

Looks like Tiwa and her Mavin records Boss Don Jazzy met with Jay Z at his Roc Nation office. Therefor have been rumblings online that Tiwa is currently in the works to sign with Roc Nation, therefore this picture surely bring some validation to this....

Feelin' it or Nah?: Bold Looks From the AMVCA 2016

The AMVCA 2016 are over, however social media is still buzzing about the various fashions that were on display by the many celebrities in attendance.

I've already shared my favourite looks from the event in a previous post, however there were a few bold looks that really stood out to me. Alongside all the glamorous gowns on the red carpet, a few celebrities decided to rock some bold fashions that went against the grain. I am all about being unique and not always following the trends. Therefore, I was really feelin' one of the unique fashion statements that was made on the red carpet, while not so sure about a few of the other fashion statements that stood out...

The 2016 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice awards just went down in Lagos Nigeria. It was a star studded event with top African celebrities in attendance and also loaded with fabulous fashion. All the stars definitely brought their fashion A game to this event!

Spotted! The Carter's 'Coming to America' in Style

She's your Queeeeennnnnn tooooo beeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

In celebrating Halloween over the weekend, Queen B Beyonce and the rest of the Carter clan dressed up as characters from my #1 most favourite movie 'Coming to America'.

Jay Z looked very regal as Prince Hakeem, while Beyonce looked fab as a version of a rose bearer. Little Blu also joined in the family costume theme as cute mini version of Imani Izzi, high ponytail and all.

Music: 'Tell Everybody' African Musical Collaboration for The UN Global Citizen Campaign

The annual Global Citizen Festival took place a few weeks ago in New York City. Attended by over 60,000 people, the festival celebrated music and activism in promotion of the UN's Global Goals campaign. As it was hosted by Hugh Jackman and Stephen Colbert, it had many celebrity appearances and included performances by major international music acts such as Beyonce, Cold Play, and Ed Sheran. 

In addition, top African musicians were included in this global festival and also performed their collaborative song 'Tell Everybody' for the UN Global Goals campaign. This collaboration features South African artists Mafikizolo, Kenyan artists Sauti Sol, Tanzanian artist Diamond, Nigerian artist Yemi Alade, Togolese artist Toofan and Ghanaian artists Sarkodie & Becca.

Its great to see African musicians continue to grow visibility on the world stage and also activity participate in global activism.

Ghanaian acturess Juliet Ibrahim looked stunning at the 2015 African Movie Academy Awards that just occurred over the weekend in South Africa.

This custom designer House of Jahdara gown is impeccable, and is beautifully tailored to accentuate all the right curves.

She is definitely my best dressed of the night!

My Faves: My Show is Back!!! Season 2 of Empire Premiere's Tonight

Season 2 of Empire is finally back!!! :)

The anticipation for this day has been tremendous. Since the end of season 1 in the spring, all of us Empire lovers have been repeatedly teased with constant news of numerous celebrity guest appearances and new cast members in season 2. Now the time has come for us to finally see it lives up to all the hype. I sure hope so!
