Lookbook: African Fashion Week Toronto 2016, Opening Soiree Lookbook

For my first look during AFWT 2016, I decided to keep it simple. I had recently picked up a fabulous black and white headwrap by Kwesiya Clothing and was waiting for the perfect time to rock it. With the commencement of  AFWT's weekend of events, the opening soiree for seemed like the perfect place to showcase my beautiful crown.

In putting this look together, I wanted the main focus to be on my headwrap so it could shine, therefore I opted to pair it with very simple black dress as well as simple accessories....

Headwrap: Kwesiya Clothing
Now, let's talk about tying this head wrap. The struggle was real y'all!! After almost 1 hours of trying I finally was able to get it done lol. Thanks to the headwrap tutorials from one of my previous posts HERE, I was able to create this cute front bow headwrap style.

*Tip: When trying to tie a headwrap, be patient. It may take a few tries before you achieve the look you want.

Choker: Ardene
As my outfit was black and white, I chose to accessorize with silver accessories to maintain a neutral tone.

Bag: Aldo / Watch: Kennith Cole
To continue my black and white theme, I added a thin white and silver waist belt.

*Tip: When wearing a simple or plain dress, adding a waist belt always helps to spice up your look.
Bracelet: Winners / Earrings: Ghana
This was also the perfect look to rock my face Gye Nyame earrings that I pick up a few years ago in Ghana. I love pairing large statement earrings with headwraps.

*Tip: Large stud earrings would work well also.

Dress: Boohoo / Belt: BCBG / Shoes: Call it Spring
To finish of my look, I wore a strappy heeled sandal and my fave black bag, and voila! :)

I was a fun night rocking my beautiful headwrap crown! I'm going to try to wear one more often.

Next up will be my recap of Day 1 of AFWT 2016 which showcases local student designers.

Stay tuned...
