Events: Flashback to Africa All Star Music Fest 2017

The 2018 Africa All Star Music fest is right around the corner! As we get ready for their 2nd edition, lets take a look back at last years first edition in 2017.

2017 saw the official launch and 1st edition of the Africa All Star Music fest presented by Kpopsy Entertainment. With the announcement of this event , there was a lot of excitement in the city as an event like this had never been put on before. I for one was super excited, being the huge Afrobeats music lover as I am. Furthermore, once I saw the line-up of artists I was even more excited and some of my favourite artists would be part of it.

Continue to check out my look back at last years Africa All Star Music Fest...

To start things off, I press conference was help which featured all the headlining artists set to perform at the Africa All Star Music fest. I had the honour of attending the press conference and learned more about the artists, the show and what attendees should expect.

~Press Conference~

PR Diva Communications representing Kpopsy Entertainment

The press conference was put together by Kpopsy Entertainment with PR Diva Communications and was hosted my media personality & presenter  Patricia J.

Host Patricia J

Host Patricia J asked a variety of questions to each artist and moderated the discussions. At one point in the press conference, she initiated an impromptu A Capella freestyle song sung by all the artists that was super dope!

After the press conference, I has a chance to meet and chat a bit with the artists.

I really enjoyed the press conference as I had the opportunity to hear directly from the artists, learn more about them and their music, as well as interact with them. Everyone was so nice! This left me even more excited to see their performances at the show.

~Concert~

The African All Star Concert was a fun filled night of great performances and nice vibes. I was looking forward to seeing all the performances, but was most excited to see Stonebwoy from Ghana, Sauti Sol from Kenya and my homie Slim Flex from Toronto/Ghana hit the stage. True to from, they each killed it on stage, and got the crowd super hype with their entertaining performance and engaging stage presence.

Africa All Star Music Fest Stage
It was a full house!
The event included a mixture of of local and international artists. Here is a look at some of the performaces...

Femi Abosede and the Cutural Force Band

Femi Abosede and the Cultural Force hit the stage and entertained us with some dope traditional Afrobeat vibes, reminiscent of the great Fela Kuti. I am a big lover of this genre of Afrobeats and absolutely love that includes a full live band and dancers.

Slim Flex - Canada/Ghana

When they announced the homie Slim Flex I was super happy and excited to see him rock the stage. So talented! His performance was everything and I enjoyed every bit of it. I have seen him perform multiple times and continue to be impressed with his talent each time. It's great to see local artists on the big stage, and hope as this event grows more and more local African artists will get this opportunity as well.

Mi Casa - South Africa

Afterwards Mi Casa hit the stage with their smooth South African soulful vibes. I was not very familiar with Mi Casa and their music before this event, so was quite interesting to see them perform. I must say I really enjoyed it and absolutely love the groovy vibe of their music, which is quite different from the typical South African Kwaito I'm used to. I came out a new fan.

Skales - Nigeria

Mr. Shake Body himself himself hit the stage and had the crowd on fire as he sang his smash hit. At one point in his performance he even went into the crowd to get closer to fan.

Stonebwoy - Ghana

Of course, I was super excited when Stonebwoy hit the stage as I am a big fan of his. I have seen him perform before while in Ghana so I already knew I was in for a good show. He definitely did not disappoint! It didn't seem like their was a lot of Ghanaian in attendance that knew the lyrics and sing along as her performed, however I without hesitation sang along at the top of my lungs lol. He is such a great performer and had crowd vibing throughout his set.

Sauti Sol - Kenya

To close off the event, Sauti Sol hit the stage and they were amazing! This was definitely the group that most in the attendance had come out to see, as the excitement in the crowd peaked once they hit the stage. Many in the crowd song along as they performed and knew the words to all their songs. This was my first time seeing them perform in person and I was pleasantly impressed with their stage presence and showmanship. The shirtless eye candy also heightened my enjoyment of their show as well lol.

Yaaaasssss! :)

Had such a great time last year and definitely looking forward to this years edition!
