Events: African Fashion Industry Awards 2015 Throwback Recap

As part of African Fashion week Toronto, the African Fashion Industry Awards is held on the last day to close off the week of events. These awards are a great platform to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments and growth of the African fashion industry locally and internationally.

I'm pleased to let you all know that we have been nominated this year! The AfroFusion Spot has been nominated in the category of 'Fashion Blogger of the Year'. I'm very honoured and excited to receive this nomination and look forwarded to attending the event this year.

But first, let's have a look back to last year at the 2015 African Fashion Industry Awards event...

I had a great time at last years events and especially loved the high fashion couture runway showcase by Adebayo Jones. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a fabulous red carpet, which of course I stopped to take a pic on lol.

After the red carpet entrance, I headed to my seat and had my camera in hand to capture the many activities and awards throughout the night.

Adebayo Jones High Fashion Couture Runway Show

To close of the night, as a special treat for attendees, we were graced with a high fashion couture runway showcase by international African fashion designer Adebayo Jones. What cab I say about this runway show, everything was breathtaking! This was African high fashion at its best and I loved every bit of it. Each look that went down the runway exuded such chic luxury, elegance and sophistication. In addition, it successfully showcases the versatility of African fashion and its ability to make a mark within the maintream fashion industry.

At the end of the event, attendees had a chance to meet and interact with with some of the designers, models and event organizers, so of course I utilized this time to do just that. I met a lot of great people and was happy to be able to express how I enjoyed the collections of the African fashion designers in attendance.
