Events: African Fashion Week Toronto - Day 1

The 2015 edition of African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT) has officially begun! I'm excited to be attending the next 4 days of events and bringing you all full coverage of the runway shows, people I meet and my experiences. Also, throughout the events, I will be rocking different Afrocentric fashions using pieces from my AfroGlam Designs fashion line and share my style profile on each of my outfits.

Day 1 of AFWT kicked off last night with a Cocktail Party at the Drake Hotel. The night was hosted by Angelina Williams of 'Tastemylife' and featured the live band 'Juice Money Collective' as well as DJ Nana on the 1's & 2's...

Throughout the night, I met and interacted with some of the attendees which included fellow bloggers, models, designers and beauty queens. All in all, it was a nice event to jump start he next few days of events and has increase my anticipation for what to come.

Check out some of my experiences throughout the night as well as a detailed look at my Day 1 outfit...

Day 1 Style Profile: 'Kente Love Affair'

For Day 1, chose to to keep it simple with top and pants ensemble as opposed to wearing a dress. I looove Kente so trying to decide which one of the AfroGlam pieces to wear first, I knew i had to go with this yellow Kente off the shoulder tops which is one of my favs. I paired my top with black leather-like denim pants from Calvin Klein. I wanted to be comfortable, you I work my booties heels from Old Navy that I usually last long in. Since I knew I would most likely be standing for the most part of he night, I definitely did not what to be struggling in high heels by the end of the night LOL! For accessories, I chose black & gold pieces to compliment my outfit nicely. Finally, I finished off my look with a red cross body bag.
