The end of August brought us all the fabulousity that is African Fashion encompassed in 2016 Edition of African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT). The weekend of events did not fail to disappoint in showcasing the growth and creativity of African fashion both locally and internationally. I was pleased to attend and cover the event again this year. Furthermore, I was also very impressed by all the wonderful fashion showcases that went down the runway.
To kick things off, AFWT held their opening soiree at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Toronto. This was a fun welcome event which also provided attendees with a sneak peek of what to expect during the runway shows as well as a chance to network with those within the African fashion and entertainment industry...

The event was hosted by the fabulous Maliaka Bryce and also had in attendance the fierce Face of African Fashion Week Toronto 2016, Frances Sesay.

A few of the AFWT models were in attendance at the event as well as they
partook in a mini fashion presentation of designs from the previous
year. Unfortunately, I missed that presentation as it occurred before I
arrived, however was able to get a few shots of the models and they
graced the event backdrop during that latter part of the evening.

The event also included a musical performance from the Ascension Groove Band. I love live music bands, so had definitely enjoyed grooving to the music

Kudos to the AFWT team for putting on a great opening event!
Had a wonderful time at the AFWT 2016 Opening Soiree and it added my to my excitement for the weekend of events to come.
