Events: African Fashion Week Toronto 2015

The 2015 edition of African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT) is going down this week and your girl Miss G will be there to bring you full overage of all the AFWT events and runway shows! I'm excited to attend this event celebrating African fashion and looking forward to seeing all the fabulous collections showcased by designers from withing the continent and the diaspora.

African Fashion Week Toronto (#AFWT2015) Celebrating its 3rd year inside Daniels Spectrum
August 13th – August 16th 2015

TORONTO, ON (July 6th, 2015) – Are you ready to experience style, design, and culture all under one roof?  For the third straight year, the diverse city of Toronto will be home to the fastest growing 4 day fashion event- African Fashion Week Toronto (AFWT), that has been defining local and international fashion from an African perspective.

#AFWT2015 will commence Thursday, August 13th with their annual Media Networking Soiree, featuring the hip live band Juice Money Collective and Juno Award winning DJ Nana who will be musically entertaining the attendees inside The Drake Hotel (1150 Queen St. West, Toronto) starting at 7:00pm. African Fashion Week Toronto will continue with 3 days of diverse fashion festivities featuring:
  • Student Designer Competition (Friday, August 14th)
  • Fashion Industry Seminar (Saturday, August 15th)
  • Three high fashion runway shows (Saturday, August 15th)
  • African Fashion Industry Awards (Sunday, August 16th)
  • Networking platforms & after parties (Aug. 13th -16th)
On Saturday, August 15th inside the state of the art Daniels Spectrum (585 Dundas St. East, Toronto) #AFWT2015 will feature a series of high fashion runway showcases by the best African inspired designers from Canada and around the world. London, UK’s own Adebayo “King of Couture” Jones returns this year with a stellar line up of fashion pieces from his latest collection.

On Sunday, August 16th they will celebrate achievements in the African fashion industry at the 2nd Annual African Fashion Industry Awards (AFIA). AFWT is excited to announce that this year #AFIA2015 will be honouring the legendary super model Alek Wek with the Model Excellence Award.
